1. When I try to restore a winclone image to the BootCamp partition I get different errors. The latest one threw me for a loop: No MBR (!) which was preceded by cat: /tmp/winclone.exit: No such file or directory (1).

I have two winclone images done at different times and residing on different external drives yet they gave the same error at first - 100.00 percent completed [but] ERROR: Filesystem check failed! Windows wasn't shutdown properly or inconsistent filesystem.

In the past, when I've gotten a similar message on backup, I've always gone back and made absolutely sure Windows shut down properly and then backed up again with no errors, so I *know* that's not the problem. As for the filesystem inconsistency, woa, wouldn't I have known before backing up, AND both of them?

2. In view of all these winclone problems: I have a perfectly good .vmwarevm which was created *from* the BootCamp installation and which is more up to date than either of the BC winclone backups. Only, I can't figure out how to copy it back. I've done a lot of searching and come up with nothing useful.

I seriously hosed my Windows XP Pro on BC when trying to install the Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 update. Now I'd like to get it back to the way it was before I did all those horrible things to it... (Yes, I did a backup - but that was after I'd removed the original MSE from it (sigh!), and little did I know Winclone was going to give me trouble.)

Can you help me get my BC back in working order, using either of the two methods above, or a third one? (A reinstall is not an option - my Windows disc is in a box far, far away.)

Running Mac OSX 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard up-to-date.)
