I just sold my 3GS and sold it as "unlocked" when I went to clear it's contents I upgraded to 4.1 and the BB is 05.14.02 did I just mess it up? Can it be unlocked or am I SOL?

I have to get this thing in the mail soon so if anyone can advise I would more then appreciate it!

You are screwed. Currently, 5.14 baseband can't be unlock.

You better have my phone unlocked and in the mail by the end of the week or i'll be disputing the transaction.

It is called sarcasm ;) I was hoping someone could be helpful like tempusfugit not just sorry your screwed thanks for playing.

If it cannot be unlocked then I refund the money and we move on. Nice try boshii ...wrong country ;)

how can some one be helpful when you are on a BB which is not unlockable ?

Helpful is "It isn't unlockable at this time however it should be out soon"

as opposed to not helpful being " You are screwed can't be done"

See the difference? One shows you that there is hope and may be able to be fixed soon while the other is basically screw you there is no hope.

I teach my kids to be polite and helpful and maybe being a woman I more sensitive to how people treat other people.

I appreciate the help that I did get :)
Have a great night!

Actually no, "It isn't unlockable at this time however it should be out soon" is misleading. So I would consider, "You are screwed can't be done" as more helpful. :) 5.14 may be able to be unlocked, but it's never a given. Would I be hopeful? Sure, but "should be out soon" from anyone other than a dev team member should be taken with a grain of salt the size of Everest.

lol..I was just giving an example. The exact wording was

"unlock for that baseband probably coming very soon, after the 4.2 official release."

My only point was it is nicer to hear there MAY be other options then hey your screwed. I just don't find your screwed a helpful answer.

The screwed comment refers to that you sold the phone, need to unlock it and mail it out "fast / soon". If you had said I could wait a few weeks or months, my choice of words would have been obviously different.

As to hope of future unlock, did you miss the part where I said "Currently, 5.14 baseband can't be unlock". Doesn't it mean in the future one might be possible?

SEMI RELATED QUESTION?!!?!?!?!

I thought you can downgrade the baseband with a custom firmware EVEN after you accidently upgrade it?

100% inaccurate, cannot be done !

Or is this supposed to be sarcasm also ?

When I see the word "question." I expect there to be an answer, not some ******* response about how my question was sarcasm, I remember reading a thread about someone who did this, but I think it was because she had baseband upgrade that was downgradeable and it worked, but nonetheless, dont be rude, you can flamed, and trolled.

How was my response rude ? Your answer is wrong. Sorry !

This is a thread in which the OP has declared a previous answer was sarcasm and he claims all of us misunderstood his answer. Therefor the sarcasm question. Just wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Well, I am 100% sorry that I have a college degree and I believe that you should answer a question with an answer and maybe wait till after you post for me to say something such as: "rhetorical" or "/sarcasm..."
