Restoring 3GS running iOS5 from wife's 3G...

Hi gang,
I'm setting up my 3GS to replace my wife's aging 3G with a simple sim swap. Her 3G is backed up to her iTunes, so all that's set, but it's obviously not running iOS5 and my 3GS is, so I'm wondering if a restore from her backup will negatively affect the 3GS in any way. Can I assume that the os stays unmolested and only data an settings carry over? Just plug it in and restore?

I believe that if the 3GS is activated, you'll want to revert to factory settings on the 3GS first and then restore the backup from the 3G.
