Restoring 4.2.1 on 3G

Hi,

A few months ago I did the redsn0w 0.9.6rc8/06.15 jb&unlock using the 4.2.1 firmware with the ipad bb which worked fine.

Until I accidentaly got it in recovery mode a few days ago and now I´m stuck.
I´ve done everything that was sugested to me (google and forums) to no avail.

I´m now ready to move on and forget my personal files/settings and do a restore. But I don´t want to make any mistakes and end up messing with the unlock or anything like that.

So I´m wondering what should be my steps for a successful recovery.

Would a 4.2.1 fw itunes recovery followed by a redsnow jb do it? Would I be risking my unlock?

You need a custom 3G 4.2.1 ipsw to restore your iPhone.

Or describe the specs of the file I should look for?

Restoring the custom 4.2.1 was a breeze and although I lost all my files the 3G is now fully operational again, with jb&unlock.
