Restoring a 2.2 backup on 3.0

With a bit of luck I should hopefully have a 3GS tomorrow after losing my iPhone 3G last month.

I've just realised though that it may be tricky to get my backup from the old phone (software: 2.2) to the new 3.0 software.

Will they be compatible? If not are there any tips?
