Okay, so I'm getting a new SSD sent to me. My current setup:

boot/apps on SSD
Home directory on HDD

When this arrives, it'll obviously be blank. After I stick it in and reformat it, which is the best route to go?

1. Load OSX fresh, then download CCC and then restore my machine with my CCC clone. It does not have a home directory on the clone as that's on the HDD not the SSD. So I would then delete the empty home directory from the SSD and point it to the untouched HDD directory.

2. Load OSX via time machine backup. Now time machine backup HAS the home directory from the HDD on it. Is time machine smart enough to put the boot/apps on the SSD and the home directory (effectively overwriting my current home directory) on the HDD? Or will it just bring it all to my SSD? At which point I would just delete the home directory from the SSD again, and then re-point it to the untouched home directory on the HDD?

Hopefully that makes SOME sort of sense haha.... thanks for the help.

I feel CCC will be quicker as I won't have to then delete my entire home folder off the SSD, as I'm sure that's how time machine will work. Plus I think CCC is faster than time machine.
