EDIT: I may have put this is the wrong forum. I originally figured applications because of boot camp, but now im thinking it may belong in the OS X or Mac Help section instead?

Hi, so recently I replaced the optical drive in my mbp with an ssd (to hold the OS and apps) and I've been having problems ever since. The hardware installation went fine, but I'm having a lot of permissions errors and other stuff that I just haven't been able to properly address (fixing one thing creates another problem), and I have left my old HD unbootable somehow and can only boot from the SSD. So, I essentially just want to do it over because I know I screwed some software stuff up when installing everything.

The thing is, I backed up my drive with time machine originally, and now when i went to try and replace it, restore isn't even an option. So now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do. I just downloaded Carbon copy cloner recently, is it possible that I can clone my most recent backup onto the old HD (after erasing it) and subsequent erase the new SSD and start all over? It that image bootable? Is there something else I can do?

As a precaution against a worst case scenario, I backed up my current scenario w/ CCC onto two different external drives just in case.

I'm running snow leopard, btw

Thanks!
