Hi,

I have a 4S and today it has been playing up, so I am thinking of restoring all setting to factory new. However, there are some things I wish not to loose such as messages and contacts. My query is, whether it's possible to perform a backup and somehow select the aforementioned items and only restore them once I've gone a factory reset?

Thanks in advance.

If I'm not mistaken, simply backing up and then restoring from iCloud, followed by resyncing with iTunes should do the trick. That's what I did to get all the contents from my 3Gs onto my 5s.

I haven't tried backup/restore via iCloud. But I can say from experience with 100% certainty that if you do a full backup via iTunes and then restore, you WILL keep text messages, settings, contacts, and all other "Apple stuff." Even progress within games and apps is maintained.
