So we know we can download the ilife apps after logging into the app store, but what happens if you format and restore - then sell the machine? The format will erase the iLife apps and not install them.. and the apps have already been claimed by someone else. Presumably one has to have credentials to update - or at the very least, they will be gone after first install.....

So I'm assuming a secondary buyer is SOL?

Thoughts?

I have not tried this... but I "THINK" it is tied to the serial number of the machine. Hence, the new owner would not be charged. I am not positive.

Before I sell a Mac I always restore it for the later buyer. I also re download stuff like iLife for them and remove my Appstore account afterwards.
So they end up having iLive. In the end i only tell them to back up these programs because otherwise they have to re-buy them.
