REstoring Iphone 4 to original settings

I got my iphone with 4.0, and now am having trouble installing 4.01, and phone is in DFU mode.THe only option I have to "to restore iphone to original factory settings" THis is scary because I want to re-jailbreak, and of course do not want the dreaded 4.02.Does anyone know what the result of restoring would do to the phone?

Hopefully you have your SHSH blobs saved and you can restore to any version you wish.

If you didn't save your blobs you will have to 1) fix your phone and get it out of DFU mode, or 2) restore, forcing you to 4.0.2 and un-jailbreaking.
