Restoring itunes library and running from external hd

My old computer just died and thankfully I'd already set up itunes to consolidate the library and store everything on my external hard drive.

I want to set up my existing library with my new computer and keep running it all from my hard drive.

When I started imported my existing playlist, I had already set up the new itunes to consolidate and copy files to my media folder, which clearly isn't right because it's duplicating everything and my hd just isn't big enough to do that.

Help please!
 
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced

Change the location of your iTunes Media folder to the folder on the external drive. Then uncheck these boxes if you want to manage your music files yourself, and you don't want iTunes making copies:
