Hi,

Been searching for ages on the best way to do this. I jb & unlocked my iphone 3G a while ago but the unlock disappeared and Cydia on my iphone is having problems. So I wanted to restore my phone afresh and start again. i.e restore/unjailbreak my phone then rejailbreak & unlock it.

There's so many conflicting ways to do this. If I restore the phone through itunes it only gives the option to either cancel or "restore & update". But will it update then to the newest firmware which will render it unjailbreakable?

So how do I do this without itunes upgrading the software/firmware?

It's currently on version 3.0.1 with model firmware 04.26.08

Many thanks in advance

Download 3.1.2 manually and use Pwnage to create a custom firmware. It will keep your baseband at 04.26.08. :)
