With 11.4 I am now experiencing kernel panics almost daily. Unfortunately the most recent one wiped out my Documents directory. 71 GB of data totally lost, except for a few not-important folders.

So I did a 15 hour Time Machine restore via a disk wipe and migration assistant which thankfully worked. However my launchpad layout with ~322 items organized into folders was not restored. It would have taken me a long time to get everything back into the appropriate folders.

Fortunately there is a utility that can do the restore. When my launchpad folders were for some reason getting deleted some time I ago I learned to backup it up whenever I make changes. All I had to do was load my most recent launchpad backup and apply it and everything was restored.

The app that allows you to do these backups/restores is launchpad manager. available for a reasonable $7.99 at
