Restoring Mailbox are install of new OS X (Snow Leopard)

Hi There

I want to upgrade my Macbook with Snow Leopard. I'm going to mirror everything using Time Machine onto an external HD, then wipe and install Snow Leopard. What I'm concerned about is retrieving all my Mail settings and actual emails.

Once Snow Leopard is installed, what will I have to do to restore all my mail, there are important e-mails that I want to keep on there.
