Restoring Newsfire

I recently tried to restore NewsFire after having a hard drive crash. I know how to restore the url's of the feeds I was using, but can't figure out a way to restore the individual messages. I can see the individual messages are in the ~/library/caches/newsfire and/or ~/library/caches/metadata/newsfire files on my backup but I could not find a way to make these messages viewable again after reinstalling the application. Does anyone know how to do this? The developer did not respond to my question.
