Anyone have thoughts on my process for restoring SMS to a new iPhone 4 without restoring from backup initially:
I extracted my SMS database from my grandfather iPhone (3G) and backed up my iPhone 4.
I copied the SMS database (3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28) into the iPhone 4's backup overwriting the one currently in there.
Then I tried to restore from backup and it fails and my iPhone restarts without the old SMS database being restored to it.

I don't want to restore from backup because that iPhone 3G was such a terrible pile of junk I really don't want any of that bad joojoo getting onto my new pristine phone. That is, aside from the SMS database. I would like that.
Both phones were running the latest build of iOS.

Thanks
