Restoring photos from time machine

Hi, i have a 09 imac wich i just had a new hard drive installed. i am trying to restore the photos library but am unable to do so? is there a simple way of doing this im trying same with documents files? i did do the iphoto ones but as i use lightroom for all my editing i need to restore the photo library then reconfigure the catalogues? x
