Restoring *some* Apps from Time Machine?

I have been using a MBP with a 750GB HDD, and am in the process of replacing it with a mini running a complement of a 64GB SSD and a 500GB HDD. My question is: is there any way to migrate selected apps to the SSD so that I don't fill it up, rather than having to install everything from scratch?

Using Migration Assistant, I would be restoring all Apps lock, stock & barrel, and this would eat up all the space on my SSD...
