Hey all, I'm at the point in the iPhone upgrade process where I put my (already jailbroken) iPhone into restore mode, then connect it to iTunes and hold down Shift and click 'Restore' to browse for my custom .ipsw. The problem is, I don't seem to be getting the browse window like I should be (holding down option and control don't seem to work, either). Was this something that was changed in recent iTunes versions? What is the process to restore to a custom firmware now? (I'm running iTunes version 8.2.0.23, by the way).

Thanks.

Nevermind, ended up finally getting it to work. For others who encounter this problem: what I did was to close out of iTunes, then double-click on the .ipsw file itself, which launched iTunes again. The Shift+Restore button trick to pull up the window to browse for my custom .ipsw seemed to work after that.

iPhone was fussy about accepting the .ipsw at first, but after a few attempts and putting it into restore/DFU mode, I finally got it to restore to the custom .ipsw.

I know i'm dragging up a thread from the dead, but I wanted to say thank you to the OP for posting his solution. I'm re-jail-breaking an old iPhone 2G and his solution solved my problem!
