I have convinced an out of state friend of mine to get his first Mac. He is looking at getting a mini and I have convinced him to put an SSD in it. He's not totally comfortable doing it and I enjoy doing stuff like that. I did the same thing with my new Mini in December, so we are talking about the computer coming to me first and then sending it to him after I put in the SSD and make sure things are working. The thing is, being his first Mac, I would like him to get the full unboxing/initial setup experience. If I just power it up after installing and don't go through any initial setup, just power it back off and put it back in the box, will this work? I would really like to boot it up and do some checks to make sure things are running smoothly. Everything I have found online says to reboot into single user mode and type:

rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

Does this still work with Mavericks? Is there something else I should do?
