Hi all,

I have a 10 eMac lab setup with a user account which is very restricted. File sharing needs to happen between the machines for uploading assignments and distributing class examples.

The problem is that I have the machines set up with a fairly lean system drive and a storage partition for the students to save work to (in case I need to re-image the machine so I don't lose student work). The restricted account can file share to other machines, but only the home directory is accessible as a mount, not the storage partition.

I'm running 10.3.9 and have checked the "Ignore ownership on this volume" box under the "Get Info" -> "Ownership & Permissions."

Any weird/hidden mount point tricks I can borrow?

Thanks,

Maybe put a shortcut to the storage partition in the home dir.

Or have the /Users folder on each machine on the storage drive, but the rest of the OS on the boot drive.

The shortcut doesn't work, it complains about re-inserting the disk...

I would consider moving the /Users folder, but I have the machines imaged for restoring and the setup would be complicated by that folder on another partition, I think. It's worth investigating...
