Some app updates have the status Resume in the App Store. When I tap on the Resume button nothing happens. I have already tried to switch airplane mode on and off and restarting my iPhone, but that didn’t help. Anyone an idea?

Regular app updates work fine by the way.

I am using iOS 18.4.1 on my iPhone 16 Pro.

I haven't run into this myself, so I'm not sure. Restarting the device is what I would have tried first, also. What about exist out of the App Store, deleting one of the apps, restart, download the app again. If all goes well, do the same with the other problem apps.

I've read on Reddit that I am not the only one with this problem. Deleting and re-installing an app seems to help. For some apps this is OK for me, but for others I'm afraid I'm losing data, settings and stuff like that. Besides it is a bit cumbersome solution.

I suppose, wait until the next OS update. I don't have any other ideas.

I am already on 18.5 since Beta 1 and saw this resume status too, just recently in Beta 3.

I often update apps manually because they didn't update automatically und sometimes are not even in the updates list. The App Store doesn't like if my phone is not online 24/7 every day, even if there are days in between where it always has an Internet connection.

Sometimes updates appear that are up to 10 days old, although it's set to automatic updates. I just checked and the oldest one was even 11 days old.

When I know there is an update and don't see it in the list, I go to the app's site and it just shows installed and only after touching, it changes to update.

Edit: I just tipped on "Install all updates" for about 8 apps and there are three in "Resume" status left.

I had the issue of apps not automatically updating since I've been using an iPhone. It seems most do not.

About apps needing update but not in the updates list, and if I understand you, what I do is drag down and release and more apps will appear in the update list. I do this every time I check for updates (drag down and release) and then manually tap on update all.

I have not observed the problem the OP is asking about (stuck on resume). I never run Betas, always do OTA OS updates. Don't know if I'm just lucky, or what.

Yes, I was thinking the same. It will probably be solved in an update. Thanks anyway.
You could also backup the device and then restore the OS. I don't know if I would go to that trouble for this issue, but maybe, and especially if you really need an app updated that won't update.
