It is when 500 people who preordered two weeks ago don't get theirs.

Not really. If you get yours during the window in which Apple promised you a watch, it's no big deal. If you get it outside that window? I agree, and I'll gladly grab my pitchfork and meet you out in front of Apple HQ.

You see, that store? They were promised those Apple Watches (they preordered, too) before they opened preorders for you, so in reality, they were first in line. Make sense?

----------

This has to be part of the contract that the store had with Apple. They had to be guaranteed some stock at launch.

Yup. And I am sure they were promised their stock before Apple started taking orders. Apple knew how many of each device they'd be sending those stores and those watches were not part of the inventory they anticipated having for preorder deliveries to individuals in the first place.

That's the exact model and size I ordered.

As long as I have it by May 27 like I was promised, cool.

You all could've flown to LA and stood in line all night long if you wanted :)

Pretty certain that the stores got to place preorders before the public. Apple then allocates what the stores will receive.

A buddy owns cell phone store chaon and told me he orered 250 6's when they were launching and received 6 for launch day.

I actually wrote to Tim about this last night and received a response from him. Beyond the standard, processing within models as received he added:

"For context, there is only one boutique in the US which has a small number of units."

As it was signed Tim and not someone from the executive support team when I have done this in the past it leads me to believe that it was really him. Whilst it doesn't necessarily make me feel better I do appreciate a response.

I only have one issue with this.....lets take a look at another store that was not selling any units which were not fully fuffiled in preorder launch window

False.

His email inbox is not managed by him. Anyone who thinks they're getting a sincere personal response from one of the busiest men on the planet is a little naive.

Well no, but steve did respond to emails personally from time to time and when I have gotten a response from that email in the past it was never signed Tim. Usually it was something along the line of - Tim forwarded me your email etc... I'm a member of the executive support team and I can help you...
