Retaining tags in iTunes

Sometimes when I hit "apple" and "I" and update song file information, when the file is sent to another person they do not see the file information. Is there a way to make sure that the song information I enter stays with the file if it is sent to one person who sends it to another and so on. Also is there a way for the song to retain its information when you burn it to a CD?
