Somewhere.
It's a pretty ludicrous idea, but I'm toying with the concept of pulling my Mac Pro apart and putting in the motherboard from a 2008 Mac Pro. In theory, it should support my X5365 CPUs and RAM, and again "in theory" it would be an EFI64 setup, which would mean no more having to put up with the rape festival that is Apple's support for EFI32 machines.

Anyone have any input on this, other than cost-related stuff?

Cost would be the deciding factor. I thought about this too for my quad 2ghz mac pro. One difference I see is how the ram boards are inserted. The top one is upside down.

Well if it came down to it, I could buy new risers, that wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm checking to see my cost on a motherboard today.

Well, after checking in to the part prices, it'd definitely be an expensive proposition, around the same loss I'd take selling it and buying a 3,1 in the first place. On the other hand, I wouldn't have to buy new RAM.

That, and...

I don't believe I've ever heard the phrase "rape festival" before.

OP, sell your machine, buy an EFI64 machine. Done.

Considering it, but I need to find somewhere that has one still new in box. I don't like buying refurbs, and I sure as hell don't buy demo machines.
