I have a first gen, 2.3 GHZ 15'' Retina Mbp, and lately I've noticed the graphics switching is causing the laptop to just completely freeze for 3-4 seconds. It's not terribly inconvenient, but it's just odd a machine this powerful would be freezing for any time at all.

I do have gfxCardStatus installed and running, with dynamic switching always being selected. Maybe the problem is just coming from gfxCardStatus, or maybe it's the laptop itself. Anyone have a similar experience with their first gen Retinas?

I believe it's normal for there to be a slight pause when the graphics switch. I've noticed the same thing happens to me every now and then.

I know there is supposed to be a slight pause, which is something I have always experienced, but really lately I've noticed longer pauses (3-4 seconds, not a stutter) and that's what I'm concerned about.

I suppose it depends on what application the graphics card is switching for. If you're running a game or something graphic intensive and the cards switch, it might take longer to adjust.
