Retina External Monitor

Hey Guys,

I'm looking for an external monitor that can compete with my Retina Macbook 15" Pro display. I saw that the Apple Thunderbolt Display seems to fit the bill, but it's a bit on the pricey side ($999):

Anyone have any alternatives for good Retina External Display's?

This is not a 4k monitor. It's resolution is 3440 x 1440 (21:9)

Real 4K resolution is 4096 x 2160 but mainsteam "4k" is 3840 x 2160.

Dell's UP2414Q is a mainstream 4k monitor.
