Do you any of you guys notice it?

I don't have any other programs running, just safari only, while browsing the net, I noticed some stuttering.

I have the same config you do, and I see no stuttering. Are you running at a resolution other than the "Best for Retina Display" shown in the Displays control panel?

Everything is run in the default settings right out of the box.

I reformatted my computer, everything seems a lot smoother now. It just makes me wonder why is the default setting not being the best?

That is definitely weird.

No stuttering on base model even with 4k display attached. Only stuttering I saw was mission control animation.

New retina iMac here - very smooth, fast, no stuttering. Observed same immediately after first startup and later after migration of all apps, documents and settings from old iMac.

You might check the Activity Monitor to see if software apps or processes are hogging the CPU. If nothing suspicious show up there, call 800-my-apple for technical support.

Ii'm very happy with the new r-iMac so far. Very fast, beautiful screen.
