Does the Retina iMac have a scaled resolution mode like the retina macbook pro? i.e.: can I configure the iMac to have additional screen real estate like the retina macbook? If so, what are the options available and what do they look like? Thanks!

Yes, that's what Retina is about. It would be very unusual to run the screen at native resolution. There were messages around on this forum about the "usual" high resolution, something over 3000 pixels across IIRC. No doubt someone will be along soon to give us exact figures.
