iPad mini retina ipad mini + apple smart case problem

question here, wife has a new retina mini with the smart case.

she has a passcode enabled on the ipad.

opening and closing the cover turns the screen on and off as it should, no prob there.

however, its inconsistent in prompting for the passcode upon opening the cover - a lot of the time it just goes straight to the home screen as if theres no pass code on the ipad. other times it prompts for the passcode like it should.

turning the ipad full off and back on doesnt help.

anyone else? ideas?

What is your Require Password (minutes) setting?

Yes, just go to Settings and then Passcode Lock and see the time set. You obviously don't have it set for immediately. So when you close cover and reopen before the time set, you don't have to put in code.

Good call guys, it was set to 5 minutes. Not having ever used a passcode on my own stuff, I guess I was expecting that you would always need to input the passcode.
