Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask anyone who has experience with swapping out/replacing SSDs from the retina Macbook Pros: (PCIe late 2013-15 models)

I have 2 retina Macbook Pros; one with a 128GB ssd and the other with a 256 gb ssd...I simply wish to take the 256gb ssd and place it into the 128gb machine, and vice versa.

Both laptops are running OS X El Captain, most up to date version.

I wish to retain the data on the 256gb ssd but, I am wondering if I need to backup and erase the 256gb ssd prior to doing this, and then restore the data once it is in the other macbook, or if I can simply swap out the drives without erasing anything (I will back up however)...again I simply wish to keep the ssd data as it currently is, so if I don't need to erase the SSD and then restore once in the new macbook that will make the swap a lot easier, but I don't have experience with replacing anything in these models.

Any advice will be welcomed and appreciated,

Thank you :)
