So i've got a retina macbook pro & i need a microphone input so i bought this usb soundcard of ebay for £3 or about $5.. It's not very good when i plug my mic input into it the level comes through very loud and distorts the level in system preferences is at 1%

If anyone could recommend a good sound-card i would really appreciate it.

Thanks

If you want to use a basic computer mic, and are okay with not using headphones while you record, then just use your headphone jack as input.

While we're at it, did you turn down the microphone, or the speakers? 0:35 in the video I linked tells you how to turn down a microphone.

Thanks for your reply. I'm basically running turntables through it for radio, i've had no problems with it on my iMac which i used to have but i'm away studying. You can't do this on a retina mac but thanks anyway
