Hello!
I have a question about Google Chrome running in a Retina Macbook Pro.

1) I have gfxcardstatus running, and whenever my rMBP runs a YouTube video (or any other Flash-based video) in normal screen mode, it runs in "i" mode (integrated graphics). However, whenever I maximizes it, it goes to "n" (dedicated graphics) mode. Is this normal?

2) Furthermore, whenever it maximizes it, an all white screen will first appear for 1 second, THEN the video plays. Is this normal?

3) Moreover, the video will have a 0.3 lag with its audio...

This NEVER occurs during normal (non full screen), and it NEVER occurs when I'm using Safari to browse YouTube/Flash videos.

4) Finally, I cant run full HD video on YouTube whenever I have the integrated graphics running with Google Chrome... what's up with that?

Is it Chrome's fault? I'll probably switch back to Safari if that's the case...

Thanks for your reply!

1. Yes, that's normal. The computer is switching to a more powerful card for playing in full screen (Flash is demanding).

2. Probably somewhat normal. Flash can be buggy.

3. Not normal. Try another browser. Also, make sure you're running the latest update/version of your browser and also Flash.

4. That's probably because the integrated might not be powerful enough to render a full HD video on a Retina screen.

You could always try Safari/Firefox to see if any of your issues get resolved/improve.

hello thanks for the reply!
Let me try switching to windows 7 via bootcamp too....

So far, Safari sees no issues.
I'm guessing it's just Chrome lol

EDIT:
It's back to normal now... I had to empty all cache since the beginning of time, and re-sign in using Google account as well
:)

Glad it's working/fixed/resolved :)

The lag is a Flash issue. You'll notice it again probably.

- On the address bar: chrome:plugins;
- Expand all;
- Look for Pepperflash and disable it;
- Restart Chrome

Even if you don't notice the lag anymore, do these steps in order to get a better flash performance.

up!!
is there any updates?

i just received my late rmbp 15" max version and i have this problem.
i just have the laptop since 2days and im a new on mac.

i can see lags when i go fullscreen with google chrome on 1080p videos its a beat frustated with such a machine.
i dunno if its the igpu and the max resolution or so and + getting very warm fast.

on safari its seems better n not go warm this fast !

-is google chrome working on it?

-is there anytricks to improve my google chrome experience?

i cant even see lags when i put fullscreen on website pages, there is rmbp "effect" that is not superfast :(

-can we disable this fullscreen "effect" or its build in on website page?

thanks, sorry im not superfluent too :)
