Hi,

I have an older Dell 3007 30 inch monitor. When I plug it into my 2010 MBP via a monoprice dual link dvi - which needs a USB port for power and a display port cable, then it works fine and I can set the monitor to it's native 2560x1600 resolution.

When I plug the 2 cables into my new Retina MBP the highest mode it lets me select for the dell is 1600x1000.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to get this working with the retina MBP?

My retina is running Mountain Lion with all the updates applied.

Thanks!

Solution!

Yay! After some more googling I found this thread with the solution:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4036890?start=0&tstart=0

Short answer is in the display preferences screen for the monitor if you hold down "Option" while clicking on "Scaled" then you get a lot more resolutions to choose from.

Not sure if this "sticks" yet if you unplug the laptop and such, but it's a solutions at least.

Another poster suggested SwitchResX - I've not tried that though.

Glad I stumbled across your problem! I have a 30" Apple Cinema Display so I suspect I might have similar problems once I get my laptop:)
