Retina MBP, wont let me Speedtest

Just got a new external drive and decided to do a Blackmagic speedtest on the disk, after I had completed thought I would see what the SSD can do, but it wont allow me to test because the disk is "read only" any ideas what could cause this? BTW this is my 2nd rMBP and I used time machine when setting it up, dont this if this as any bearing on the issue.
