I'm planning to buy new laptop.

My only remaining question before i can decide what to buy is, how much 13” Retina MacBook Pro will cost?

no one knows how much they will cost however it is very likely that they will cost at least a few hundred dollars more than the 13 inch Macbook Pros.

hmm.... i have 17" MBP and would never replace it with retina in any form. At least for now. I'm waiting until they realise that killing 17" was a very big mistake. ;)

1400 as a guess

Really lowballing it, aren't you?

I honestly don't see them coming in at less than $1700, but my guess is as good as anyone else's (except maybe this guy's). Components to 15" are pretty similar, so I wouldn't expect a price drop of over say $500 (thus my estimate).

Wasn't the old base MBP around $ 1799? And the base retina is $2199, so they upped it approx. 22 % of the original cost. Base mbp 13 inch is what $ 1199? Factor in that certain parts can't be scaled that way, and you end up with around $ 1600. I'd guess around there.

Edit: Although you'd have to compare to prices of the other lines at the time, because they would'nt undercut the MBA which may be more expensive.

You might be waiting a while. Generally a company doesn't discontinue a product unless it's not making money. *Maybe* they'll come out with a Retina 17 at some point in the future just so they can say that they have a laptop with 4K

I'm with Terra as well. The way this new Retina is selling, I don't see any reason Apple want to throw more into the mix. Until this slows down, I don't think we will see the 13s coming out. The 13s will kill the 15s' sale, IMO. Many of my friend including myself do not need a 15. A 13 with the same hardware spec as the rmbp would be perfect.

Yeah cheaper 13 hurts 15 sales
17 is dead
15.1 at 5.1 mp is already > 4k, right?

Oh and my 1400 price guess is way too low
Others at 1600-1700 seem closer

4k means 4000-pixel horizontal resolution. TV manufacturers are interpreting this as 3840x2160, since that's exactly 4x 1080p.

15" retina is 2880x1800

agreed. if a 13" was available alongside the 15", i would have picked the 13" for sure. if a 13" version comes out later, i may just sell my 15" off to get it.

That name convention makes perfect sense
4k columns
4x HD
I'd been told that and forgot. Should have googled before soundin dumb. Thanks Terra
