I know there's a significant difference when looking at text on retina vs regular, but what's it like watching movies on the retina screen? Is there an even bigger difference compared to non-Retina, or is it less noticeable? I'm considering the retina because I will be watching movies on it, but would rather save the money if it's more of a "text is just much sharper" difference.

Generally speaking everything is sharper.

Regarding movies, it really depends on what resolution the footage you're watching is in.

If it's 1080p HD, it'll almost certainly look a fair bit better on retina screens compared to their non-retina counterparts. If it's a 480p video off YouTube however, you most likely won't see any difference.

With that said, I'd recommend going for the retina display regardless - the screens are simply fantastic and imho the cost is very much justified.
