I got an iPhone that was stolen and I'm trying to retrieve the serial number or IMEI. I know you can retrieve the serial of iPhones from the synced computers on a windows with the hidden files option checked, but how do we do it on a Mac OS X?

Thanks

If its in your possession why not just check it out on the device itself?
Settings -> General -> About?

I know there's a Mac app out there that lets you connect the iphone and it'll show that info instantly. Not sure what it's called, but I've seen someone use it before in person. Might have to google.

Download MobileSyncBrowser
http://mobilesyncbrowser.com/
the trial version will be sufficient to retrieve the IMEI.
Install the appropriate version on the computer last used to sync your stolen iPhone. Run this application, select the blue arrow next to the latest backup shown, then select info.

If you open iTunes on the computer you used to sync your iPhone, go to Preferences and select the Devices tab then hover your mouse pointer over one of your iPhones backups and phone number, IMEI and serial number will be displayed.
