Since I've upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard, I've been disappointed with iPhoto - since now all of my photos have been merged into one big 'blob' file.

I would like to move these files from my MacPro to a PC (I'm not mad or anything, I just need to get them over to the PC). Questions:

When I zoom in to view a 963KB 1600x1200 JPEG on iPhoto, releasing the mouse button magically 'fills in' all of the jagginess of the image (over ten years ago, this low rez camera was all that I had at the time). This does not, however, happen with any photo app I've tried using on the PC (the file is reported as the same size).

Is this something special that iPhoto does, or am I not transferring (dragging and dropping to a thumb drive) these files properly? Do some photo apps work better than others at this little trick?

Thanks all for your help!
