Retrieving SMS

Hi,

I accidently deleted an SMS conversation and I was wondering if there is any way of being able to retrieve that conversation?

I didn't back up my phone after the texts were sent.

I also have a Jailbroken iPhone 3G.

I was wondering if you were ever able to do this because I am trying to do the same thing? Also what does it mean jailbreaking?
