I was wondering if it was possible to put an iPhone 4's camera into an iPhone 2G? I'm assuming they use completely different connectors, but I figure I'd ask.

On that note, would it be possible to put the iPhone 4's logic board into the iPhone 2G's housing? Probably a stupid question; just wanted to satisfy my curiosity.

Thank you. :)

the camera would not fit. The logic board would be possible with enough modding but it would be near impossible.

Thank you guys for the fast replies.

I think the latter would be a neat mod. If I could get my hands on another iP4 logic board, perhaps one that doesn't work, I would be willing to attempt it.

Negative. a) the skeleton is glued to the frame in an original iPhone. It CAN be removed via solvent but from there you wouldn't be able to get switches and power in the old casing. The iPhone 4 is also mm larger due mostly to battery.

You'd need all the iPhone 4 internals. Not just the logic board.
this.

It would be more difficult then getting a mac mini into the iMac g4.. something few if any have accomplished. It would require complete gutting of the original and then opening up the 4g and placing the parts into the 2g. It would be pricey and possibly not worth the risk. Do you have any experience with modding? I must admit it would be cool to have an iPhone 2g with a retina display, 5/8 megapixel camera, 720p/1080p video recording and led flash.
Think of not putting an iPhone 4 into an iPhone 2g, but putting the iPhone 2g casing onto the iPhone 4/4s internals.

The most I've ever done with iPhones was taking apart the iPhone 3G when my mother put it in the washing machine. It was easy enough, but from my understanding the original is much harder to take apart.

I just ordered a 2G off eBay, still functioning, for $40. Not sure how much I really want to drop 200+ on iP4 guts trying to get it work, though.

We'll see. :)
