Question....

Am I able to return my 16GB iPhone 4s that I got when it first came out to apple? I decided I would like to upgrade to the 32GB model.

My Phone is in perfect condition.

The thing is, I am on business and want to do this tomorrow. Will the local apple store let me do this but just put my iPhone in the new box? I don't have it with me that way they get all their "original accessories back"

Thanks

Someone I know did it, but they swapped literally the day after.

If you've been using it, I'm guessing they would say no. Never know until you try.

if you purchased it from an Apple Store you had 30 days to return it . So if that the case for you then return it and purchase the 32GB

Yes, they have a 30 day return/exchange policy.
Read the receipt.

Seriously?

They'll take back a phone that's been in active use, and give you a new one?

That is what a 30 day return policy is all about

Good luck finding one, I'm waiting to return my White 16g for a Black 32g , AT&T.

Been checking every night at 9 pm and no luck yet ...

You can indeed return it to get a 32gb but the method of returning depends on where you bought it.

1) If you bought it online, you have to ship your phone back to Apple, wait til they reset your upgrade and reorder it or go to the store to get one. It takes about 3 day for them to receive it and reset your upgrade. Another 2 for them to refund your CC. I know because I recently returned my 4S.

2) You can only return in-store if you bought it @ an Apple retail store.

Thanks for the replies guys but I am still wondering....

I bought my iPhone 16gb on launch day. Used my Verizon Upgrade. Paid $199

I went to my local Apple store today told the girl, "I want to exchange this iPhone I got on launch day for a 32GB, this one is not enough storage for me"

And they said that its 14 days exchange policy, even though I'm a few days past the 14 they would do it for me. The Apple Manager told me, "Before we do the exchange you need to call Verizon and tell them/ask them to mark on your account so you can still get the "upgrade" price or else you will pay the full price? I said "I though it was 30 days" they said "no its 14"

BUT I called Verizon and Verizon told me no I only have 14 days to exchange. But Before I went to the store today I looked at apples return policy and it says 30 days??

" A wireless service plan with either AT&T or Verizon Wireless is required to activate all iPhone features, including iPod features.
The iPhone model you purchase is configured to work only with the network technology of either AT&T or Verizon Wireless, as specified, but not both.
The Apple Online and Retail Stores sell iPhone for end-user customers only. iPhone may not be purchased for resale.
iPhone may not be purchased for export outside of the United States, either directly or indirectly.
Making unauthorized modifications to the software on an iPhone violates the iPhone software license agreement, and the inability to use iPhone due to unauthorized software modifications is not covered under warranty.
iPhone Return Policy:

If you are not fully satisfied with your iPhone purchase, you can return your undamaged iPhone within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. The iPhone must be returned with your original receipt in its original packaging, including any accessories, manuals, and documentation.
Wireless Service Cancellation:

Additional notification to your carrier may be necessary to terminate or reset your wireless account. Please check with your Specialist when returning your iPhone. You will be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges, or other charges through the termination date. Please contact your wireless service provider for more information about applicable fees.

I am so confused. Is it different if I have a contract, than buying phone outright?

Why does Apple say 30 day's on receipt? Please help!

I looked at Verizons Policy it says....
"Wireless Device/Accessory Return Policy

You may return or exchange wireless devices and accessories purchased from Verizon Wireless within 14 days of purchase. A restocking fee of $35 ($70 for netbooks and tablets) applies to any return or exchange of a wireless device (excluding Hawaii)."

SO is Apple trying to push it on Verizon? Or are they correct?

The chick at apple told me "If we exchange it Verizon won't pay us the difference"

Do I have a Legal right to exchange, it says on Apples receipt 30 days. Nothing about 14 daysnothing about contracts etc. And I bought my iPhone at Apple.

Well Verizon and sprint is only 14 days so your screwed best bet is if someone else is getting an iPhone (friend or family) give them 100$ extra to get the 32 gb(assuming they getting the 16gb) or Craigslist an pay some money to the person like 100$

You do not have a right to exchange. You have a right to return. Once you return it, Verizon will reset your upgrade eligibility and you can buy a different phone. That may take a couple of days though, do you still have your old phone to use in the interim?

Got ya. So I have 30 days to Return it then I have to wait for Verizon to reset my upgrade then go to store and get new phone. I would need a temp phone to use in the mean time.

I guess thats what I will do I really want to get the 32GB. :)

Thank you for all your input guys. This forum is great!

It would be nice if we could just walk into the Apple store, find a demo iPhone 4S, and say “Siri, based on my exact needs, which size iPhone 4S should I get?” but sadly even Siri isn’t that artificially intelligent… yet. There are a few things we can look at, however, to help decide.
Price for storage
The current US prices for iPhone 4, with full carrier subsidies are:
16GB: $199 or $12.44 a GB
32GB: $299 or $9.34 a GB
64GB: $399 or $6.23 a GB

You should probably factor in the fact that 16GB =~13.7GB, 32GB =~28.6GB, 64GB =~57.4GB
