However, Fraser may still face legal problems with patents and trademarks, legal experts said. Apple is notoriously protective of its intellectual property, and has not hesitated to go after hardware manufacturers, software publishers and websites for infringement.

Fraser hasn't yet contacted Apple, and the company didn't respond to requests for comment.

I can't imagine this flying - I wish him luck, but I'm not holding my breath. Apple has been vigilant on throwing lawyers at anything that they think infringes on their patents and copyrights.

I will be interested in seeing what he does for his case design.

Not a cloner, and they have several (or used to) companies that repackaged and sold Macs.

Though their business of making repackaged rack mounted Macs has probably thinned since the XServe arrived.

The nearest machine to a cloner possibility is most likely Amiga's new G3/G4 machine (if somebody decided to sell a machine-software package deal - without OS X).

Don't know how happy Apple would be for somebody including OS X, Mac-on-Linux, and a non-Apple PPC machine all in the same sale. :p

Though this guy is an idiot for saying he's a cloner instead of a custom machine builder.
