I doubt they would be quite an amount of returned products.
Wonder what would Apple handle it, resale those as refurbished after quality check is done?

Apple watches have to encounter a refurbished and diagnostic testing before they can be resold. Which means, the battery is tested, battery and display replaced if necessary, and the other functionalities are tested to ensure they are working properly (Speaker, heart rate sensor, etc).
