They say you can't return a BTO mac, so I think your best option would be to find a buyer for it. Or be content with your machine, its still wicked fast.... just not as wicked fast as the new machines.

You bought yours 12 days ago, I ordered mine last Monday (2.93, 320gb 7200rpm) and then saw the update today. Which I did not expect at all, considering they just shipped the first ones in late feb/early march. Did not expect an update in under 6 months of the announcement.

Anyways, my laptop is somewhere between Toronto and Vancouver, the guy said I could return it but I don't think I'm going to.

I really need a new laptop (my rev A 1.6ghz air is slowly dying - no AppleCare either). After I priced out the new 3.06ghz machine, I'm not really getting much for ~$10 more than I paid for the 2.93.

You only save $100 off the 17 in Canada, but all the upgrades went up a bit ($50 to $60, $300 to $360). Plus the difference is only 130mhz between the 2.93 and 3.06 - the hard drive is the only big change from a 320 to 500gb (though I'm hearing people are still having problems with the 7200rpm 500gb drives)

I'm just going to stick with the 17" 2.93, 320GB 7200 - The cpu is good enough and I'm planning on getting an SSD in the next 6 months anyways. Plus I'd have to wait another 2 weeks or so for a build to order system, and I really want it now! :)

Glad you could swap yours though. How was the 2.93 for the first 12 days? I'm really excited, moving from an Air to a 17" MBP should be a pretty big upgrade.

i had (have) the intel 160gb ssd inside and this really smokes ..

as i need win also, i installed win7_rc1 32bit via bootcamp on a 20gb partition, i found boot camp 3.0 here in the forum and keyboard has the mac functions (dim, backlight, loudness & dvd-out), so all works perfect. :D
