Bought a X on swappa, they included the receipt within the 14 days. Will the apple store return the money if I give them my CC at the time of return or does it go back on the original card. If I remember right they ask but want to verify.

Pretty sure they just refund the purchase method, i.e. not your own card. But you can always ask.

Then again, seems suspicious the seller wouldn’t return the device himself anyway.

They included the receipt (from the apple store) in the box that I bought from them.

Obviously on a different scale, but when I returned an Apple leather case to the Apple Store last week, they asked for a card to refund. I said I wasnt sure which was the original pmt method and he said it didnt matter. Took the card I gave him, scanned it through and the card was refunded so I believe you can have it refunded to a different card.

You will have to try to talk them into putting it on a gift card or something, but their typical policy is to refund the card the phone was purchased on, which doesn't help you.

I swear I recall returning a iPhone 7 this way. I forgot the card I put it on at home and they returned it to another card I had with me.

Also, I returned my wife's iPhone X the same day and when they processed the return, he asked if crediting the Discover Card it was purchased with was ok. I said yes, but I assume he wouldnt have asked if I was able to choose a different method for return. Unless its either the original purchase method or gift card but I dont think that is the case. I think you will be fine.

Thanks. I will ask before I give them the receipt, lol. Still don't know if I will return it but just wondering.

Yeah, the few times I've returned items, they ask the same (assumed the same, that I could've said, "No, I'd prefer to use this CC instead").

I would also figure a fallback option would be a store credit/gift card, that might not be directly helpful, but at least carries value that's easily sold/transferred.

They should be able to process it through a different card. Imagine a situation when you used a debit card to buy an Apple product, but you either lost the card or it got stolen right after. You are issued a new debit card from you bank. In this case if they try to refund the purchase to your original (stolen/lost) card, I don't think it will be processed, so you would need to give them a new one. My 2 cents.

Or any time a credit card is cancelled or replaced. They have to have a way to refund the money...

With credit cards it's a little different. If your card only expired, then they will issue you a new one but matching the number of the expired card. They only change the card info if it's lost or stolen.

Never heard of a retail store that will refund you the item on a different card......... On top of that how could you get a refund when the charge on another someone's CC???

Why would you buy an iphone X on swappa and then want to return it to Apple?
This whole thread is weird. Off course they will refund the original card. They wont put the funds to someone elses credit card account.

I bought it and the seller included the receipt, it’s within the 14 days so if I wanted to just return it and not resell it again on swappa. This is of I can’t get used to it.

I guess the more important question, why returning the iPhone x?
Unless I missed the question/answer in a previous post...

Don’t know if I will but if I di, it would just be the size being smaller than my plus.

Ah, I totally get it.
I will say this, put your Plus device down, and ONLY use the X for a few days/a week, I bet you'll get used to it, and forget your Plus. I've got till Sunday to return my X, if I wish, but, at this rate, I'll be keeping it (I have an iPhone 8 Plus, too)...

Couldn't you just return it to the seller?
I think most transactions there have a 7 or 14 day return policy.

From there site?

buyer wishes to return ("buyer's remorse"), the seller is not obligated to accept a return except in compliance with the stated voluntary return policy.

Having recently had my card number stolen and then had to get a refund on a purchase, it is my understanding that the card companies only lock your card down from being used for purchases, not credits. So, if your card is turned off due to it being stolen, it can still receive a credit on a refund.

Apple does. I returned my 8+ today and when all was done the Geek asked if I wanted the credit to go back on the original card or do I want her to put the credit on another. Strange but true now. Apple has changed it's policy and will put it on any credit card you give them.

What I do not understand is if the device was bought from swappa why should apple refund it. But now it sounds like they can.

I was wondering the same thing. Alas, I can only assume they are validating the serial number, etc. then processing the refund...

I could sell it again but with shipping times improving I may not have good luck getting full retail. That is really why I started this thread.
