I ordered the Series 6 Titanium 44 MM with the charcoal braided solo loop on launch day. Similar to many others I used the Apple cut out measuring tool to determine my size for the loop and ordered a size 10. The watch arrived today and the loop is too big. I called Apple and spoke with a very pleasant representative regarding my desire to exchange the loop band for a smaller size. As has been mentioned before, I was told there was no mechanism to exchange just the band I would have to return the watch and band. If I were to do that the listed delivery date for the replacement would be November 16-24. The other alternative, other individuals have mentioned, is to visit an Apple store and exchange the band there. Unfortunately all the stores in my area are closed due to Covid. I respectfully asked to speak to someone else and was told that there was a backlog up to 12 days for a supervisor to reach out to me. Has anyone else gone through this process and what have the responses and/or results been? I am not bashing Apple by asking this. I simply feel that this has been a rather inelegant launch for this new band. Thank you for your responses.

Not many Apple stores even carry the Titanium watches, and who knows what in-store loop availability will be given the late-November ship times for the loops, so even if they were open in your area I'm unsure how well that'd work.

IMHO your best solution is either:
#1 - pickup an sport band or non-braided sport loop off of mercari or ebay or bestbuy open box to use for now, sell your loop on ebay/etc, and order the size loop(s) you think you need.

or #2 - order a new Ti watch with a black sport band thats currently showing Oct 1-6 delivery - then also order the loop(s) you want and made due with the sport band until it comes in.

I ordered a size 11 Charcoal Braided Solo Loop (with a watch), received a 12 and Apple has been abysmal at dealing with it.
Considering it was their error, I thought they would at least quickly refund the retail cost of the band since they can't ship me the proper one and instead they insisted on treating it as a typical return. I escalated through the customer service process and I'm waiting for a call back.

I don’t know if they changed the rules this year, or if it’s different with online orders, but last year, I got a sport band with my S5 (forgetting how much sport bands start to irritate my wrist after a while). A week later I swapped the band in person at the same Apple store where I’d made the original purchase. They were able to process the exchange on just the band. Took five minutes. So maybe go in person, if you’re able, and see if they give you a different answer than you got on the phone?

They said in their original post "Unfortunately all the stores in my area are closed due to Covid."

It’s even crazy in the apple store. On launch day I went in and pre-ordered for pickup based on the sizing guide a 10. Went in, they asked me if I wanted to try my new watch and I said the tool said 10 but I had time so could open it and try. The sizing tool was 2 points too high, I really needed a 8. I had to return the whole watch, they could not just swap the band.

This is ridiculous. Anyone have a 44mm green braided solo loop in size 9 that wants to trade for a size 10?
