Hi all, Have a friend in NY who wants to return my dead iphone(believe me, I've tried it all and it wont boot;I'm in Australia). It has the original AT&T inside which obviously has not been activated. Given that it is stone dead, will they be able to determine whether it has been activated with my own sim and if not what are my chances of getting a replacement. I know this is all speculation, but maybe some of you have been here before. TIA

I say try it, if it's fried they might not be able to tell it was "tampered" with and hand your freind a new one.

Yeah, but you'd better hope they don't ask for his iTunes account email address that he activated the iPhone with, and the phone number for the ATT account...

risky business but you dont hvae a lot to lose.

I thought it was now Apple's policy to only honor the warranty if the phone has been activated.
