has anyone done this? I’m a little pessimistic so naturally I feel this is a huge liability.

As long as I cover it with insurance?

I have done this on two different MacBook Pros machines because of an issue I was having (turned out to be a software issue). They should send you a label for the return, and you just take it to Fedex and have them box it up for you and slap the label on. I asked to watch them box it, but you don’t have to. It’s relatively stress free. That’s at least been my experience

I would add get a receipt from the FedEx, UPS store or Post office showing they took custody of the package and allowing you to track it back to Apple. Also, require a signature at delivery.
