Decided i want the 8gb instead of the 4gb RAM.

Powered up holding option and erased my data, started reinstalling the OS but its going to take 10+ hours. The Apple store is a long way away and i don't have a way to get there any other time before the 14 days is up other than today.

Will it matter if i haven't reinstalled the OS or will they not be able to check the serial number etc without it installed?

Serial numbers are on the bottom of the MBA and should be on the box.

You shouldn't have a problem.

Even if there is the Genuis' should sort it out.

no. i returned one and just deleted the data. All they check is the actual hardware itself....they never booted the mac up. I have returned 2 in the past and the same thing...they just check for physical damage
